Selecting the Online Printing Company Which Is Best for You

There are so many printing firms online that it can be overwhelming the first time you search for a partner in your marketing efforts. Should you get free business cards or invest in something more customized? How quickly do you need a company to turn around your project? Is price or reputation more important in your big picture?

If you are just starting out, then these questions can seem overwhelming. There are ways to narrow your options and find good printers without having to spend a fortune to do so.

Evaluating Printing Companies

Consider what you need your printer to do. Do you require an annual order of custom cards? Nearly any reputable firm can handle such a request. Do you plan to send out brochures every three months as part of a mailing campaign? Only a few printers offer mailing services. Will you need promotional materials? Can your printer offer you a selection of such items?

Once you have determined what you will need, you can start looking at companies more critically. A quick turnaround time is optimal, but not at the cost of professionalism. What types of guarantees will the printer offer you? Is proofing included or do you have to pay extra to have someone check your copy for mistakes? It may help to make a chart of exactly what you need before you go online to see which companies provide the services you will use.

Try Business Card Printing as a Test

Once you have narrowed your selection of printers down to a couple of choices, have a test run of business cards printed at each company. To make the test fair either make both runs “custom” or use the free card offer that so many printers use as a loss leader.

Evaluate not just the turnaround time, look at the cards. Are they professional looking; everything straight and the colors crisp? How was the customer service? Did someone offer to help you set up your new cards? Can you expand your business supply line with ease?

Your Next Step: Order Brochures

The next product that is commonly ordered would be brochures. Since every company should have at least one brochure to hand out in order to share information, as a price sheet or for a mailer, this would be your next purchase. Select the two best printers of business cards and then send a simple brochure project for printing next.

Once again evaluate all the factors that would be important and would affect your business presence. By this point you should have a good idea of which company you want to use. Not everyone will choose the same business because different individuals have different needs.

Once you have completed a couple of basic projects you will have a very good idea of whom you wish to work with. Take one more precaution and check online for a clean record. If people have a problem with a printer, you can be sure that they have been discussed online in one forum or another. If things come up clean, chances are that you have found a good company with which to work.
