Make Your Flyers Work Full Time for Your Company

If you think that flyers are only good for passing out in the parking lot near your company’s office – it’s time to think again. There is so much more you can do with flyers. Flyers can be made for various purposes and with different goals. Here are just a few ideas for you to consider.

Keep It Simple When Printing Flyers

It can be very tempting to print up elaborate, complex flyers. After all, if you are going to the expense of printing up a couple thousand flyers, shouldn’t they give the public all the information you have? No. Actually, you want to do just the opposite.

Keep your flyer as simple as you possibly can. First get their attention. Use a big, headline or an image that is relevant to your goal but avoid fonts that are difficult to read. Now, create a desire. You want them to want what you are promoting. Whether it is a product or attendance in some event, your goal is to encourage interaction. Move on to a call to action – that way they know what you want them to do. Finally, put your name at the bottom or near the bottom of the flyer – they should be able to find it, but it should never be the prime focus.

Party Flyers Set the Mood

Let’s say your company is about to open and you want people to come to your grand opening event. The flyer you design should have a fun, party oriented feel. People will respond to the energy in the flyer, especially if you keep it simple. Offer free gifts, space out auctions or raffles throughout the day and make sure you have refreshments listed as well; nothing get’s people out like free food.

Customize Your Flyers

Remember that not every flyer serves the same audience. The crowd you are trying to entice to the grand opening may not be the same group of people you want as repeat customers. There are always a percentage of people who come for the food and gifts and will never step foot in your business again. For those who make a purchase, ask specific questions or meet specific guidelines, you can have a secondary flyer.

For example, tuck a second flyer in each shopping bag and when a purchase is made it goes home with the customer. The flyer can offer a discount on their next purchase – that is a wonderful way to encourage repeat business with little effort on your part.

Use Color When and Where It Is Appropriate

Under most circumstance flyers are printed off in black and white. Color is more expensive, and barring a major marketing campaign is generally not worthwhile when it comes to a simple flyer.

Some printers like to encourage the use of colored papers. Unless you have done some research into which color is best for your business audience, you might want to skip it. You might like teal, but it may not do a thing for your business image, and there are people who despise specific colors. Why risk losing a customer just for a little flash.

Flyers are great business tools, as long as you design them well, keep your objectives simple and have them printed up properly.
