The staff at printingforless.com knows that being able to give you the best product depends on you giving them high quality graphics and information to begin with. They offer the following tips to get you on the right track with laying out your work:

Don’t snag images from other websites to use in your brochures. Typically, images are compressed before being uploaded, and they download with poor quality. If you are scanning photographs to produce your images, then save them as eps or tif files if possible. Since digital cameras typically save files as jpg, one would assume jpgs are good files for image reproduction, but not all jpgs are created equal.

Don’t use unusual fonts in your layouts. If you want the printer to be able to produce your design just as you laid it out when printing flyers and brochures for you, stick to the standard fonts. However, if you do want something out of the ordinary, send them a list of the fonts you used, and they will find something comparable.

Stick to black for anything under 12 point font. Each color in the print process, black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, has a very slightly different position, so on the very small characters, a colored halo will appear around the edges, making them look fuzzy. The same size criteria applies to white print on a black or other dark background; don’t go smaller than 12 point or your readability will suffer.

Lighten up photos for text overlay. If you want to print text over a photo, then before you submit your background art, you will need to lighten up the photo on a photo editing program in order to make your content readable. The Printing for Less advisors recommend making it lighter than you think it needs to be if you want that text to be readable.

I used http://www.printmama.com and got great results at a very good price. I have used other print companies and the past and also gotten pretty good results. I am finding that online printing is the way to go, the days of the brock and mortar print shops are numbered.

  2. Currently I would love to print directly from my phone and I print photo in my printer using bluetooth.  Choosing the right printer and paper is very necessary to get the best print quality.
